# Binderwork > Share decks with page-by-page analytics, send documents for e-signature and hire your first people, in the app or by asking ChatGPT or Claude. Free and open source under AGPL-3.0, hosted or on your own server. Binderwork is the AI-native, open-source alternative to DocuSign and DocSend, and to Ashby for a startup's first hires. It is free and open source (AGPL-3.0-or-later): hosted at https://app.binderwork.com, or on your own server. It covers deck sharing with page-by-page analytics, email gates, watermarks and data rooms (instead of DocSend), e-signatures with signing order, templates, bulk send, reminders and sealed, timestamped PDFs with a certificate of completion (instead of DocuSign), hiring with a careers page, a pipeline board and offers signed in the same place (instead of Ashby), Y Combinator's post-money SAFE, closing a round, the SAFE register, the cap table and employee paperwork. It works from ChatGPT, Claude, Claude Code, Cursor and VS Code through one MCP server, from a CLI and over REST. Anything that reaches another person (a link, an envelope, a SAFE) waits for a person to approve it in Binderwork; an assistant cannot send it alone. ## Connect - MCP server (OAuth): https://app.binderwork.com/mcp - Claude: https://claude.ai/customize/connectors?modal=add-custom-connector&connectorName=Binderwork&connectorUrl=https%3A%2F%2Fapp.binderwork.com%2Fmcp - Claude Code: claude mcp add --transport http binderwork https://app.binderwork.com/mcp - Every client, step by step: https://binderwork.com/connect - CLI: npm install -g https://binderwork.com/cli/binderwork.tgz, then binderwork login - REST: https://app.binderwork.com/api/v1, described by https://app.binderwork.com/api/v1/openapi.json ## Guides - [Share a deck and see who read it](https://binderwork.com/guides/share-a-deck): A link for each investor, watermarked, with every visit page by page. From the app or by asking your assistant. - [Send an agreement for signature](https://binderwork.com/guides/send-for-signature): Signers sign on their own page in a tap; you keep the signed PDF with its evidence. From the app or from a chat. - [Hire your first people](https://binderwork.com/guides/hire-your-first-people): Post the job with its pay range, run every candidate on a board, and send the offer and CIIAA for signature. From the app or by asking your assistant. - [Raise on SAFEs](https://binderwork.com/guides/raise-on-safes): Y Combinator's post-money SAFE filled from the investor's email, checked word for word, signed and kept in your register. - [Keep your cap table](https://binderwork.com/guides/keep-the-cap-table): Bring your spreadsheet or your Pulley or Carta export, compare it with the file, and see who owns what on any date. ## Pages - [Demo](https://binderwork.com/demo): sharing a deck and getting an agreement signed from a chat, in six screens - [Pricing](https://binderwork.com/pricing): $0 for every feature, and what hosted Binderwork includes - [Changelog](https://binderwork.com/changelog) - [Compare](https://binderwork.com/compare): Binderwork next to DocuSign, DocSend, Ashby, Papermark, Documenso and YC's Send a SAFE - [The open-source DocSend alternative](https://binderwork.com/docsend-alternative): Share decks with page-by-page analytics, email gates, watermarks and data rooms, like DocSend: free, open source and usable from ChatGPT or Claude. Where DocSend is better, and how to move. - [The open-source DocuSign alternative](https://binderwork.com/docusign-alternative): Send documents for e-signature with signing order, reminders, templates and a sealed certificate, like DocuSign: free, open source, no envelope limits, and usable from ChatGPT or Claude. - [A free, open-source Ashby alternative for your first hires](https://binderwork.com/ashby-alternative): A careers page, a pipeline board, candidate emails and offers signed in the same place: free, open source and usable from ChatGPT or Claude. Where Ashby is better, and how to move. - [Binderwork and Papermark](https://binderwork.com/compare/papermark): Both are open source and share decks with page analytics. Binderwork also signs the agreement and runs the SAFE round on the same record, from ChatGPT or Claude. - [Binderwork and Documenso](https://binderwork.com/compare/documenso): Both are open-source DocuSign alternatives. Binderwork adds deck sharing with page analytics and the SAFE round, and works from ChatGPT and Claude. - [Binderwork and YC's Send a SAFE](https://binderwork.com/compare/yc-send-a-safe): Both fill in YC's post-money SAFE word for word. Binderwork keeps the consent, the closing checklist, the register and the cap table around it. - [SAFE calculator](https://binderwork.com/safe-calculator): what SAFEs convert into at a priced round - [Verify a signed PDF](https://app.binderwork.com/verify) - [Records checklist](https://binderwork.com/records-checklist): exporting equity and financing records from any provider - [Source and license](https://binderwork.com/source) ## FAQ ### Can it really replace DocuSign and DocSend? For a startup's everyday work, yes: decks shared with page-by-page analytics, email gates, watermarks and data rooms, and documents signed with signing order, templates, bulk send, reminders and a sealed certificate of completion. DocuSign and DocSend do more for large companies, such as qualified electronic signatures, CRM integrations and enterprise compliance programs; each comparison page lists where they are better. ### Is it really free? Yes. The software is open source under AGPL-3.0 with every feature in it, and hosted Binderwork is free, with what that includes written down on the pricing page. Binderwork never charges a fee tied to a signature, a closed round or a share transfer. ### Are the signatures legally binding? Binderwork follows the evidence practices of the US ESIGN Act and UETA: consent to sign electronically, an explicit Sign step, a seal with a timestamp that shows any later change, and a full audit trail. In the EU these are simple electronic signatures. Some documents, such as wills, can't be signed electronically at all. This is not legal advice. ### Do investors and signers need an account? No. Readers open the link in their browser, after giving or confirming their email if you ask for it. Signers sign on a phone or a laptop without signing up. ### What does my assistant see, and can it send things on its own? It sees what it asks Binderwork for while you chat, such as a document's title, who read it or who has signed. Anything that reaches another person waits for your tap in Binderwork. Binderwork itself doesn't send your documents to an AI model, and nothing you upload trains one. ### Can I run it myself? Yes, that is the point of the license: it runs on one Linux server with Postgres, and LibreOffice for Word files. The source opens to everyone with the first public release; until then, hosted Binderwork is free and every record exports in open formats.
